In the legislative sphere, the ministry aims to approve five basic documents that will help reform and bring to a qualitatively new level the industries under the ministry's control, the report said.
In particular, it is planned to approve a strategy for the development of the defense sector of Ukraine, the state target scientific and technical space program of Ukraine for 2021-2025, the state target scientific and technical program for the development of the aviation industry of Ukraine for 2021-2030 and the state program for the development of science-intensive technologies, as well as to approve and implement the state defense order for 2021.
In 2021, the ministry will also continue the corporatization of Ukroboronprom's enterprises. State-owned enterprises of strategic industries will be divided by areas of activity and grouped into two state-owned holding companies: Defense Systems of Ukraine and Aerospace Systems of Ukraine.
In addition, a Defense Technology Agency, similar to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense, is to be set up in Ukraine in 2021. The agency's task will be to implement scientific and technical developments and new technologies to create modern types of competitive weapons and military equipment.
The Ministry for Strategic Industries also aims to ensure a significant increase in revenues to the state budget from the export activities of enterprises of the Ukrainian defense industry.
