Over 3,000 casualties reported due to outdated tactics and harsh conditions

The National Intelligence Service of South Korea (NIS) has revealed significant losses suffered by North Korean forces participating in russia’s war against Ukraine. According to the NIS, approximately 300 North Korean soldiers have been killed, with an additional 2,700 wounded in combat.

This information was disclosed during a closed session of the South Korean parliamentary intelligence committee, as confirmed by Lee Seong-kweun, a representative of the ruling People Power Party. The NIS attributes the heavy casualties to North Korean troops’ lack of experience and training in modern warfare.

Combat footage analyzed by the intelligence agency shows that many losses occurred during futile attempts to engage Ukrainian drones from ineffective distances, highlighting a critical gap in the North Koreans’ understanding of advanced battlefield tactics.

The report also sheds light on the dire conditions faced by North Korean forces, claiming that some have been forced to take extreme measures. According to the NIS, North Korean commanders have compelled soldiers to commit suicide to avoid the perceived shame of being captured by Ukrainian troops.
