russian forces launched a large drone attack against Kyiv on September 23, with many of the drones reportedly being jet-powered, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The strikes hit a range of civilian and critical infrastructure in Kyiv. According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the affected sites included pharmaceutical facilities, fuel stations, railway infrastructure, communications facilities and shopping centers.

The attack was not limited to Kyiv. Volodymyr Zelenskyy said russian forces also struck cities and communities across eight regions of Ukraine, indicating that the attacks involved targets in multiple parts of the country.
As of the time of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's statement, two people had been killed and another 24 injured as a result of the strikes. Emergency services and other authorities continued working to eliminate the consequences of the attacks.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukraine could launch domestic production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems within approximately one to one and a half years, following U.S. support for the necessary licensing.
