The drone contained 45 components of foreign origin. This was reported by Militarnyi, citing the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
According to intelligence reports, the Geran-3 UAV was based on the airframe and components of the earlier Geran-2 model, but featured one key difference. The drone was equipped with a Telefly JT80 jet engine instead of a reciprocating one.

The overall design of the drone's airframe underwent only minor changes. It was capable of reaching speeds of 300 to 370 kilometers per hour, with a flight range of up to 1,000 kilometers.

Geran-3 contained a SADRA inertial navigation system, an ADC pressure measurement unit, a power distribution unit (PDU), as well as a number of other modules. For navigation, the drone is equipped with the Kometa-M12 navigation satellite system featuring a 12-element CRPA adaptive antenna array. This enabled the drone to be resistant to electronic warfare (EW) measures.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the UAV contained 45 components of foreign origin:
- 22 American;
- 8 Chinese;
- 7 Swiss;
- 3 German;
- 2 British;
- 1 Japanese.
In addition, the occupiers equipped the drone with the same camera and video transmission system as the Geran-2. The electronic components of the Geran-3 are virtually identical to those used in the gasoline-powered versions of the Geran-2.

The Geran-3 served as a transitional step toward the Geran-4, whose airframe has been adapted to accommodate the Telefly LX-WP-160 jet engine.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Geran-4 has a wingspan of about three meters and a length of 3.5 meters, just like the previous model. However, the drone's weight has increased from 350 to 450 kilograms.
The new engine has increased the drone's cruising speed and flight range.
