Since 2018, Romania's Aerostar Bacău has been designated as the maintenance center for F-16 multirole fighter jets. The company recently announced the successful maintenance of another F-16, now back in service with the Romanian Air Force.
According to Defense Romania, the company notes that thanks to close cooperation with Lockheed Martin, Aerostar Bacău has acquired all the necessary expertise and created the capacity to become a regional maintenance center for F-16 fighter jets.

It is noted that as of today, they have strengthened their capabilities in periodic maintenance, structural and component repairs, and modernization to meet international standards.
The most important thing is that Aerostar Bacău's current capacity allows it to service six F-16 fighter jets at once. Expansion is planned for the future.
It should be noted that in the fall of 2023, Derco, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, signed an agreement with Romania's Aerostar to repair the landing gear, wheels, and brakes to maintain Romania's F-16 fleet.
Earlier, Defense Express reported that Romania would officially receive 18 F-16s from the Netherlands for training Ukrainian pilots.
