On Sunday, September 8, russian drone entered Romanian airspace, according to a statement from Romania’s Ministry of National Defense on Facebook.
The ministry highlighted that russian forces had resumed drone attacks on civilian and port infrastructure in Ukraine near Romania’s border earlier that morning. In response, warnings were issued to residents of Tulcea and Constanța regarding potential danger.

The Ministry of Defense also noted that two Romanian Air Force F-16 jets were dispatched to monitor the situation.
“During these events, the radar surveillance system detected and tracked the drone’s trajectory, which briefly entered Romanian airspace before returning to Ukraine. Two F-16 jets also monitored the drone’s movements,” reads the statement.
Initial data from the ministry suggested that the drone might have crashed in an uninhabited area near the village of Periprava, Romania, prompting air and ground searches in the region. Romania’s Ministry of National Defense strongly condemned russia’s attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
