Ukrainian interceptor operators have shot down a rare russian reconnaissance drone called Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg over Kharkiv region, according to the Ukrainian Air Force's Combined Rifle Brigade.
The drone was detected and destroyed by operators from the Svidky Spasa unit. The Ukrainian military described it as one of the rarest russian aerial targets recently encountered in Ukrainian airspace.

The Knyaz Veshchiy Oleg is a relatively new russian unmanned aerial vehicle designed for aerial reconnaissance and intelligence gathering. Its mission is to collect information about Ukrainian positions and provide data that can potentially support further russian operations.
According to the Ukrainian military, the drone was intercepted while it was still operating in the air. This prevented the system from completing its reconnaissance mission and transmitting the information it had been tasked to collect.
The unit estimated the value of the destroyed UAV at around $100,000. This makes its interception significant not only because of the intelligence capability russia lost, but also because of the relatively high cost of the system.
