"If we want peace, we must defend it. That is why we must arm ourselves, and that is why we must be a deterrent and be persuasive to our adversaries, saying to them, 'If you go too far and threaten our interests, my own security, then I do not rule out intervention," he said.

Macron emphasized that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine are at stake, but at the same time the rule of law and common rules are also under threat.
"And if we leave everything as it is in Ukraine, the right of the strongest will prevail. And we cannot be safe, because this is happening 1,500 kilometers away from us. So, in Ukraine, our future and our security are at stake," - summed up the president of France.
