Italy will supply Ukraine with the second Franco-Italian SAMP/T air defense system capable of shooting down ballistic missiles, Reuters reports.
The air defense system will be supplied within the 8th military aid package for Ukraine, which is to be approved by Italian PM Giorgia Meloni’s government following the G7 summit in the middle of June.

"It is known that we will send SAMP/T, which is an instrument of air defense, therefore of protection, that Ukraine itself asked us for," states the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not disclose further details about the transfer of the SAMP/T air defense system to Ukraine.
The system, also known as MAMBA, is a Franco-Italian battery that can track dozens of targets and intercept 10 at once. It is the only European-made system that can intercept ballistic missiles.
