The meeting of Ukraine Defense Contact Group, which took place on January 9 and became the 25th meeting since the first one on April 26, 2022, was called one of the most important by Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. At the same time, the day before, his Polish counterpart, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, said that it would most likely be the last.
This assumption was made against the backdrop of the absolute unpredictability of Donald Trump's decisions, who 10 days before his inauguration had already talked about taking over Canada, annexing Greenland, and invading Panama.

After all, if the new US president not only cuts or stops aid to Ukraine, but also withdraws from or simply formalizes the state's participation in NATO, there will be little point in gathering at the Ramstein air base.
So far, everything indicates that the Ramstein format will continue. Even the pessimistic Kosiniak-Kamysz said after the meeting that the next one would take place after the change in the US presidential administration. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said it would take place in February.
Another qualitative marker of long-termism is the approval of plans until 2027 for the main areas of arms supply and support for Ukraine's defense capability, as well as the prospects for the current year. At the same time, separate bilateral meetings were held with the United States, Norway, Italy, and the Netherlands.
At the same time, Ukraine's main strategy for 2025, according to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, is quite comprehensive and specific. It includes stabilizing the frontline, strengthening defense capabilities, enhancing the protection of the sky and sea lanes, and an asymmetric response to the aggressor's attempts to gain an advantage through scale.
Earlier Defense Express reported that Germany will enhance Ukrainian Armed Forces with 6 IRIS-T air defense systems and first RCH-155 self-propelled howitzers, exceeding initial numbers.
