Germany Bolsters Ukraine's Defense with Patriot and IRIS-T Systems, Leopard Tanks, and Additional Military Aid

On December 23, Germany unveiled a robust military aid package for Ukraine, further bolstering its defense capabilities

The package includes advanced weaponry such as 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks, two Patriot air defense systems, and IRIS-T air defense systems, among other critical supplies.

  • Armor and Air Defense:

- 15 Leopard 1 A5 tanks and ammunition.

- 2 Gepard self-propelled air defense systems (with spare parts).

- IRIS-T SLM and SLS air defense missile systems.

- 2 Patriot launchers and 2 TRML-4D radars.

  • Artillery and Vehicles:

- 1 PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer.

- 30 MRAP armored vehicles and 12 kinetic-defense armored vehicles.

- 7 Caracal airborne jeeps.

  • Unmanned and Airborne Systems:

- 30 Vector drones, 24 RQ-35 Heidrun drones, and 14 Hornet XR drones.

- 5 AMPS helicopter self-defense systems.

  • Infantry and Logistics:

- 200 MG4 machine guns, 420 MK 556 rifles, and 80 HLR 338 sniper rifles.

- 120 GMW grenade launchers.

- 12 Zetros trucks, 8 fuel tankers, and 45 diving scooters.

  • Munitions:

- 52,000 155 mm shells, AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinder missiles, and ammunition for Gepard systems.

- 120 mm mortar shells, small arms ammunition, and mines.

In addition to these military assets, Germany is supplying generators, tents, turnstiles, demining equipment, and other essential support items.

Earlier this month, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a surprise visit to Ukraine and announced a separate €650 million aid package, further demonstrating Germany's commitment to Ukraine's defense against russian aggression.
