Finland's Patria and Germany's KNDS Deutschland Maintenance have signed a framework agreement for the assembly and final integration of Patria 6x6 wheeled armored personnel carriers (APCs) under the European CAVS program. This is being carried out as part of an order from Germany placed in December 2025.
A press release from the Finnish company states that deliveries of these armored vehicles to the Bundeswehr will increase in early 2027. Starting that same year, efforts will also be made to increase the level of local production in Germany through a gradual transfer of technology.

From Defense Express we would like to notes that This means that less than two years will pass between the signing of the contract and the start of assembly at local facilities. Germany's industrial capacity and KNDS's experience with armored vehicles were also expected to support this effort.
Overall, localization remains the Patria 6x6's key selling point, with its relatively affordable price and solid performance also contributing to its growing popularity across Europe. To date, the vehicle has secured orders for more than 1,200 units.
In Germany, the story is even more interesting, as Patria's 6x6 was chosen over Rheinmetall's Fuchs Evolution, which the company had been promoting as a way to support Germany's defense industry. In other words, it was more cost-effective to localize a foreign APC than to choose a German one.
The Bundeswehr has so far placed a firm order for 349 Patria 6x6 vehicles, with plans to procure up to 876 units, and potentially even more. The first five vehicles arrived for testing two months after the contract was signed.
In particular, Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Lithuania have selected these vehicles as part of the CAVS program. However, not all of them have placed firm orders yet.
In addition, Patria 6x6 vehicles were supplied to Ukraine as part of military aid from Latvia, where they were equipped with anti-drone protection. With no payload, the vehicle weighs 15.3 tons and provides Level 2 protection under STANAG 4569, which can be upgraded with additional armor. Depending on the configuration, it can accommodate 8–10 paratroopers and 2–3 crew members.
