France has increased its ammunition production capacity, and will be able to send 3,000 155-mm shells to the Armed Forces of Ukraine every month, compared to 1,000 a year ago

The Minister of Defense of France Sebastien Lecornue reports this in his X account (formerly Twitter).

"From 1,000 shells in January 2023 to 3,000 per month in January 2024," the minister writes.

In addition to ammunition, French company Nexter Systems (a part of KNDS) will also increase production of Caesar self-propelled howitzers from two per month to eight starting next year.

Lecornu said the country's move to increase production of weapons and ammunition was a "concrete result" of the transition to a "military economy" called for by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Meanwhile, the US plans to increase production from 28,000 155-mm shells per month to 36,000, and by the end of 2025 to reach the goal of 100,000 shells.

The head of the NATO military committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, called on the allies to increase the production of ammunition in order to continue to help Ukraine.
