Ukraine`s intelligence reported that on April 26, russian Repeynik radar station for detecting drones was destroyed. It is noted that Repeynik radar is rare for russian occupiers. Deliveries to the troops began only in 2022. Cost of one such station is approximately 100 thousand dollars.
It is interesting that this is only the second report of destruction Repeynik radar during the entire full-scale war. The first one was in April 2023, when the station was destroyed by artillery of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This raises the question of what such radar can actually do and what are its functions on the battlefield.

russians claim that Repeynik is allegedly capable of detecting drones at a distance of up to 15 kilometers and at an altitude of up to five kilometers. Station's equipment is allegedly capable of tracking 256 targets simultaneously.
The declared duration of operation from an external power source is up to eight hours. The declared deployment speed to the working position is five minutes. It is claimed that Repeynik weighs 25.5 kilograms and is compact enough to be carried by one person.
At the same time, Ukrainian sources provide estimates of Repeynik's characteristics with reference to the words of Ukrainian specialist and consultant in the field of military radio technologies Serhiy Flesh. He noted that the detection range of Mavic drones was only 2 kilometers, while the detection range of Matrice drones was 3 kilometers. At the same time, Repeynik works in conjunction with electronic warfare systems that are supposed to suppress UAVs.
As for the field of use, we can assume the following. Since the Repeynyk is hardly a mass-produced radar, russian occupiers use it to protect important stationary objects at the frontline.
Accordingly, the density of such radars on the battlefield is minor, but it is difficult to say how this affects russians' "anti-drone" capabilities. In any case, if these rassian Repeinik radars were monitored on the battlefield much more often, there would be much more references to them, in particular from Ukrainian warriors.
In addition, there is an assumption that russian occupiers may believe that the fact that they have Repeynik radar stations gives them moral and psychological advantage rather than technical one.
Earlier Defense Express reported that satellite images had revealed that russia builds new airbase near Ukrainian border for helicopters.
