It is not yet known what caused the aircraft to crash, but russians hint at the work of their air defense

A russian Su type fighter jet crashed in the sky over temporarily occupied Sevastopol. It is currently impossible to determine whether it was Su-27 or Su-35 aircraft. Accurate identification is not possible yet, even despite numerous videos, but it is clear that it was Su-27-based fighter.

The videos show the burning fighter jet falling in a flat spin, as well as decoy flare that aircraft could have fired itself or that detonated due to the fire. The local occupation authorities reported that pilot successfully ejected, and the fighter crashed into the sea in a few hundred meters from the shore.

When the footage appeared in media, russians began to push the message that it was "friendly fire" and the result of russian SAM system against the aircraft. But later they said it was a technical malfunction. Because the residents of Sevastopol only saw the fighter and there was no information about the missile launches as well as all the videos show no traces of anti-aircraft missile engines.

On the other hand, it is still unknown what caused the aircraft to crash and a rather large-scale fire, which looks more like the result of a successful surface-to-air missile hit than a technical malfunction. Although such consequences may be caused by an engine fire.

It should also be noted that the minimum distance from the frontline to occupied Sevastopol is 235 kilometers. This is far beyond the capabilities of even such a long-range system as the MIM-104 Patriot SAM system, which with GEM-T missiles can destroy high-altitude aerodynamic targets at ranges up to 160 kilometers.

Earlier Defense Express reported that Ukraine apparently could jam down P-800 Oniks missiles as well as russians had admit and tried to revamp the missile.
