Swedish BAE Systems Bofors, a manufacturer of a wide range of artillery and ammunition, continues to expand its capabilities. This involves increasing production to 3–4 times current levels in certain product segments.
BAE Systems President and CEO Tom Arseneault announced this during a conference call to discuss the company's first-half and second-quarter 2026 results. According to him, the most popular products were the Archer self-propelled howitzer, the Tridon Mk2 anti-aircraft artillery system, and 40-mm 3P programmable ammunition designed for the system.

Arseneault added that Bofors' current order book and production activity are being driven by countries in Eastern and Northern Europe. The company is also actively working to expand its supply chains in Sweden.
From Defense Express we would like to note that BAE Systems Bofors is manufacturing the 40-mm Tridon Mk2 anti-aircraft gun systems and accompanying 3P programmable ammunition for Ukraine. Deliveries to Ukraine are scheduled for early 2027.
The Swedish company is also manufacturing 155-mm Archer self-propelled howitzers for the Ukrainian military. The order covers 36 new systems, which will supplement the eight vehicles already transferred to the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Sweden's own arsenal.
Bofors also manufactures high-precision BONUS artillery munitions and Excalibur guided munitions, both of which have been used in Ukraine. Other products worth mentioning include 40-mm and 57-mm naval guns.
As for other countries, Sweden has ordered 48 Archer systems and has already begun receiving them, while Latvia plans to acquire 18. Sweden will also strengthen its air defense capabilities with Tridon Mk2 anti-aircraft systems.
BAE Systems has not specified which Bofors products are now being produced at 3–4 times their previous production rate. However, it is likely that this primarily concerns ammunition, for which demand has risen sharply since 2022. The increase may also extend to anti-aircraft guns and artillery, which have also seen a rise in orders.
