The Armed Forces of Ukraine received the next butch of defense assistance from the Republic of Lithuania

The Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anushauskas, announced on Twitter about the delivery of a new batch of weapons.

Thus, the Armed Forces of Ukraine received ammunition, as well as a batch of 12 M113 armored personnel carriers, of which 10 are 120-mm Panzermörser M113 self-propelled mortars, and two more are fire control systems.

These M113-based self-propelled mortars are being transferred by Lithuania to Ukraine as part of the next package of defense aid, which was announced by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania, Arvydas Anushauskas, on October 12 this year, a little more than a month ago. In general, it is reported that the Lithuanians sent a total of 62 M113 armored personnel carriers for various purposes to Ukraine.

As for the Panzermörser M113 self-propelled mortar, it will be able to hit Russian positions with a 120-mm Finnish Tampella mortar at a distance of up to 6350 m at a rate of at least 5 rounds per minute. The crew of such a mortar is 5 people, the ammunition is 60 mortar mines.

It is also worth mentioning that earlier these vehicles were in service with the German army, but in 2005-2006 they were transferred to Lithuania in the amount of 42 units, while only 15 of them were in service as of 2021.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the news and expressed gratitude for the support and assistance provided by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Lithuania on post on its official Facebook page.

" The Armed Forces of Ukraine are grateful for the support and assistance to Lithuania! 120 mm heavy mortars 'Tampella' are integrated on the M113 A2 armor platform to be transferred to the battlefield to the Ukrainian brothers. We have carefully prepared and handed over combat kits - mines. Ukrainian soldiers will be able to fight the enemy up to 7 km distance," the post reads.
