The eighth round of training for mercenaries bound for the war wrapped up in Belarus. According to underground sources in Belarus, the Granit elite unit underwent intensive combat coordination exercises there. The training was overseen by instructors from the Wagner Group, who have taken refuge within russia’s ally.
These newly trained units will specialize in carrying out sabotage missions in Ukraine. The Wagner Group operatives are providing expertise in engineering, firearms and tactical medical skills. The primary armaments for these units include portable anti-tank grenade launchers, automatic grenade launchers and the Kalashnikov machine guns.

The UK Defense Intelligence in early February indicated that Belarus is now home to fewer than a thousand militants. This situation, while benefiting the Kremlin, poses challenges for Ukraine. Allegedly, the dissatisfaction of the Wagner Group instructors with Belarus’ payment practices has prompted many to consider leaving for better-paying opportunities in Africa instead of staying in Belarus for an extended period.
