On March 14 Defense Express published an analytical piece titled: "Russian missile strikes in Ukraine: why only 40% reach the target". This piece contained a detailed analysis of the effectiveness of the recent Russian missile strikes.
As of today, our findings were confirmed by well-informed US officials. Reuters claims that three American officials with knowledge of the intelligence revealed that the failure rate for the Russian missiles changes every day. It depends on the type of the missile being launched and can exceed 50%. Two of them said it reached as high as 60%.

One of the officials said the intelligence showed that Russian missiles had a failure rate in the 20 to 60% range, depending on the day. The failure rate encompasses many scenarios from failure to launch to failure to explode upon contact.
According to the Pentagon since the beginning of the war Russia has launched over 1200 missiles targeting Ukraine. The U.S. officials did not say how many of them have reached the target. Reuters stated that the U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, did not disclose the reasons behind the missile failure rates.
According to Russian investigative journalist project The Insider, Russia fired at least 70 missiles against Ukraine on March 26.
52 missiles were fired from ships of the Black Sea Fleet from the waters of Sevastopol and at least 18 from the territory of Belarus. The total cost of these missiles exceeds $ 340 million, and taking into account logistics, it is up to $ 500 million (worth firing from ships).Only eight hit their targets, the rest were shot down by Ukraine’s air defense.
