Ukraine will receive several thousand more long-range 155mm artillery rounds thanks to order from unnamed NATO country to Rheinmetall within military assistance framework. Their delivery should be conducted by April 2025.
Contract value lies somewhere in middle range of tens of millions of euros and will be fully disclosed in German concern quarterly report. It is noted that under agreement, ER02A1 B/B rounds together with DM72 modular propellant charges will be manufactured and transferred.

Actually, this order resembles Ukrainian contract with Rheinmetall for analogous ammunition announced a week ago. However difference lies both in volumes and different propellant charges, as Ukraine purchased M203, which corresponds to 5 modular propellant charges, meaning does not allow achieving maximum range of 40 km and more for base bleed rounds.
On other hand DM72 are modular propellant charges, meaning their quantity per shot can be selected independently depending on artillery system and needs. In other words, when available, 6 units can be taken to achieve maximum possible strike range.
Worth mentioning here that despite NATO-standardized chamber volume, different artillery systems may still have different chamber sizes. Thus, for example, charges used in one SPH simply will not fit another.
Therefore using separate modular elements may make more than sense for convenience and versatility. Under this contract for Ukraine, DM72 supplier will be Nitrochemie Group.
Recall currently for Defense Forces support, priority is defined as purchasing long-range 155mm artillery ammunition, reasons for which we examined earlier. This involves need for 1.2 million such rounds annually, of which Rheinmetall alone can provide only 100,000.
Also domestic manufacturers can supply similar artillery ammunition. For example, Ukrainian Armor claims 100,000 unit annual production capability, but can only import charges for up to half of them.
