Ukrainian troops located russian Grad system with reconnaissance drones before an FPV strike triggered the detonation of rockets loaded into the launcher

The 225th Regiment has released footage showing the destruction of russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher using an FPV drone.

Reconnaissance first identified an area where russian Grad was believed to be operating. An FPV drone was then deployed to check the area and locate the launcher.

The drone found the BM-21 system positioned with a full ammunition load. This meant that a successful strike could potentially trigger secondary detonations among the rockets carried by the launcher.

Ukrainian operators directed an FPV drone into the system, hitting the vehicle directly. Following the impact, the rockets loaded into the launcher detonated, causing a large explosion and setting the BM-21 system on fire.

The 225th Regiment later deployed another drone to assess the result of the strike. The follow-up flight allowed the Ukrainian troops to confirm the destruction of the launcher and assess the extent of the damage.

The BM-21 Grad is a Soviet-designed 122 mm multiple rocket launcher capable of firing a salvo of rockets against area targets. The system remains widely used by russian forces despite its age.

The regiment estimated the value of the destroyed Grad system at approximately $200,000.
