AZP S-60 gun as a dual-use weapon can help in open steppe combat in southern Ukraine

The 28th Mechanized Brigade published a video showing training with a Soviet S-60 anti-aircraft towed gun. Despite being quite old – entered service in 1950 – these are still potent in modern warfare, the military say.

We have already seen these in the hands of Kharkiv territorial defense forces. However, in Ukraine's south with its steppe landscape it might be even more useful as a long-range armor deterrence or assault support weapon.

As we can see in the video, the troops are practicing long-range strikes on targets 3,500 and 6,100 meters away, while the effective range is around 6,000 m. And the targets demonstrated in the video were both ground ones.

The military call the weapon "timeless classic" and say despite its age, the gun can destroy enemy light-armored equipment or UAVs up to 6 km away horizontally and on altitudes up to 5 km. As a "sign of quality", they mention that the gun is still used by the Polish Army.
