Ukraine's Defense intelligence says its Group 13 special unit has struck two russian S-400 Triumf air defense launchers and an antenna used to control Orion UAVs during an operation in temporarily occupied Crimea in early August 2026.
Ukrainian operators used the Magura multipurpose maritime platforms carrying FPV drones to attack the high-value targets. The unmanned platforms allowed the unit to conduct strikes against russian assets from the maritime domain.

The two S-400 launchers represent a particularly significant target. The system is one of russia's most capable long-range air defense platforms and is designed to engage aircraft, cruise missiles and other aerial threats.
The strike also targeted an antenna associated with the control of russia's Orion unmanned aerial vehicles. Such ground infrastructure is essential for maintaining communications and controlling UAV operations, making it a valuable component of the system.
The agency estimates that the losses inflicted on russian forces as a result of the operation could amount to tens of millions of dollars. The figure reflects the high value of the S-400 equipment and associated UAV infrastructure.
As Defense Express previously reported, Ukrainian marines used unmanned surface vessels to launch FPV strike drones against russian boats near Zaliznyi Port in Kherson region, disrupting an attempted troop rotation and destroying the enemy landing party.
