Ukraine's Ballistic Missile Defense Returns to 2022 State — Zero of 29 Ballistic Missiles Intercepted in July 6 Kyiv Strike

Air Force confirms 0/23 ballistics and 0/6 Zircon/Onyx intercepted as Kremlin exhausts PAC-3 MSE stocks while U.S. itself holds only 15-21 interceptors per Patriot battery post-Iran

russian' long-range combined attack on Kyiv on night of July 6 showed Kremlin's calculation on exhausting Patriot SAM interceptor missiles worked. Of 23 launched ballistic missiles and 6 Zircon or Onyx anti-ship missiles, not a single one was intercepted by Ukrainian anti-missile defense.

Published Air Force command statistics state this.

At the same time, of 33 air-launched Kh-101 cruise missiles and 6 sea-launched Kalibr cruise missiles, 31 and 6 were shot down respectively — 94% and 100%. Of 351 long-range drones and decoy targets, 326 were shot down and suppressed — 92.8%.

In other words, Ukraine's air defense system itself continues demonstrating high effectiveness. However in anti-missile defense question, where direct dependence on anti-ballistic missile supplies exists, evidently Ukraine returned to 2022 when Patriots had not yet been transferred and entire country had no ballistic missile defense at all.

Also Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat stated on air: to shoot down ballistic missiles, must have something to shoot them down with. Patriot systems are sufficient — constant missile supply is needed.

Recall during previous combined long-range Kyiv attack on July 2, 0 Zircons of 4 and 4 of 24 ballistic missiles were intercepted — 16.7%. This evidently became signal for enemy — conduct repeat attack as quickly as possible, targeting residential buildings again. According to KSCA, as of publication 11 killed and approximately 50 wounded already known.

Overall across all four combined long-range Kyiv attacks — June 2, June 16,July 2 and July 6 — meaning approximately one month, russia used approximately 24 Zircon/Onyx and 114 ballistic missiles against Kyiv alone. Besides that, throughout June rashists attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles several times outside mass attacks.

At the same time, known Patriot PAC-3 MSE anti-ballistic missile production for 2026 is approximately 52 monthly.

However, Ukraine receiving even part of them is complicated by U.S. itself remaining with only 15-21 anti-ballistic missiles per Patriot battery after iran war completion.
