According to Major General Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the war between Ukraine and Russia will not last long and its active phase will end soon, possibly after the winter.
“We should not be afraid of mobilisation. In fact, it’s a gift for us, because it will only speed up the process that can no longer be stopped. This is an agony. They will face a problem which we have already experienced,” Kyrylo Budanov said in an interview broadcast on the national telethon on Friday.

He noted that this was the third case in the history of russia, when mobilisation took place: in 1914, 1941 and for the third time in 2022. Russia had driven itself into a dead end.
“But basically there is a way out. To admit a mistake. They know how it works – returning to the administrative boarders of 1991 and starting a democratic dialogue with their neighbours and the world. Certainly, there will be transition of power if it happen,” Kyrylo Budanov commented on possible scenarios.
He also added that, probably, the Ukrainian army would enter the territory of the Crimean peninsula by the end of spring 2023.
“Perhaps a little earlier. You can make a mistake in the days, but not in the algorithm,” he said.
As Defense Express reported, American officials highly appreciate counteroffensive of Ukraine in the north and say that Ukraine’s efforts to retake land in the south and east could unfold more quickly, even setting the stage for an attempt to retake Crimea next year.
