"The United States will never look away from what is happening in Ukraine and Russia's brutal attacks on civilian infrastructure," Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of State, said this at a press briefing in Washington on Thursday, May 4, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, while Ukraine puts its air defenses to good use, Russia's cowardly attacks have still injured and killed more than a hundred innocent civilians across the country in the last three days alone, including at least five children.

As the representative of the U.S. Department of State stated, "since May 1, Russia has launched more than 145 airstrikes across Ukraine. That means Russia has launched more than one missile, one drone, or bomb every hour, 24 hours a day for four straight days".
"We will continue to help Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression, and we recognize Ukraine's incredibly courageous military forces and its citizens for their bravery and resilience," Patel said.
In his turn, White House National Security Council Spokesperson John Kirby stated during a press conference on May 4, that the United States is "focusing a lot" on providing Ukraine with the air defense it needs to protect itself from Russian missile and drone attacks.
He said that using air defense capabilities that had been provided to Ukraine not only by the United States but by allies and partners, the Ukrainians were able to down the majority of cruise missiles that were launched against Ukraine in just the last 48 to 72 hours.
"So we are continuing to focus on that," Kirby stressed.
Regarding Ukraine's anticipated spring counteroffensive, Kirby said that the U.S. does not know when Ukraine's counteroffensive will begin, but that it is confident the U.S. and its allies have done everything they can to make sure that Ukraine is ready.
"So we've done everything we can. That doesn't mean that we're going to stop. It doesn't mean, like, we're just done. You're going to see continued support from the United States going forward," White House National Security Council Spokesperson said.
