russian officials claimed they had already eliminated one of the long-range rocket systems that creates so much trouble to them

russians have not destroyed a single High-Mobility Artillery Rocket System yet, as stated by the U.S. Joint Chiefs Chairman Mark A. Milley at a press conference dedicated to military support for Ukraine.

Although the russian defense ministry claimed that one of these US-provided rocket launchers had been destroyed in Ukraine, these claims have no confirmation at the Pentagon.

"To date, those systems have not been eliminated by the Russians and I knock on wood every time I say something like that. And they're being very effective at using them, employing precision weapons against targets," Mark Milley assured.

Moreover, there are four more launchers coming to Ukraine soon, as we already reported.

As for the russian statements, the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) says russian ministry of defense has launched a PSYOP on the alleged destruction of HIMARS:

On July 17, 2022, russian MoD officially reported that "the launcher and the transport-charger of the HIMARS anti-aircraft missile system were destroyed near Pokrovsk, Donetsk region". But the fact is, this rocket system is an autonomous complex and there is no transport and charging machine for it at all. See in the video below:

Having their fake dismantled, the ministry explained that the target destroyed earlier was not HIMARS but a "Ukrainian military bath and laundry complex based on the ZIL-131" (citation from the CCD).

The reason behind this disinformation campaign, according to the Center, is that "HIMARS became a significant demoralizing factor for the russian armed forces, showing high effectiveness on the battlefield", which was also confirmed by Gen Milley:

"Today, the Ukrainians are effectively employing these HIMARS, with strikes against Russian command and control nodes, their logistical networks, their field artillery near defense sites and many other targets."
