Considering this is what an official video from the russian defense ministry looks like, it’s scary to imagine how bad things really are

There is already much information about how the so-called "partial mobilization" is going in russia. Just as expected, the process faced many challenges: there is practically no personal equipment, no uniform, medical supplies and even banal bedding at the military camps.

In this situation, the officially published video of the training of newly mobilized conscripts, supervised by defense minister sergey shoigu personally, is extremely demonstrative. We should keep in mind that this is the "for display" kind of video from the russian ministry of defense which is meant to showcase the russian army at its best.

The video was shot at one of the training camps of the Western Military District, which always received all the most advanced equipment; it is also considered as consisting of the most well-trained and combat-capable units. There’s even a chance that this video features one of the units stationed in the Moscow region.

The first thing that catches the eye is that conscripts are training without helmets and flak jackets. The training itself is run by cadets of a military higher educational institution. The quality of training from such an "instructor" who casually walks into the line of fire (even despite knowing that the rifles are stripped of firing pins because of the minister’s visit) is quite predictable.

Another notable detail: let alone the body armor, there is not enough even footwear for everyone. In the "evacuation of the wounded" episode we can see a soldier wearing ordinary sneakers.

Once again, it is the video meant for publishing, where every aspect must be "perfect". At this point it’s not so difficult to imagine what happens at the other training centers, especially those deprived of the higher-ups' supervision.
