Back in 2023, Poland received the first South Korean K239 Chunmoo MLRS, which received the local name HOMAR-K. Now, finally, a plant for the production of ammunition for the system has begun in Poland. At the same time, the U.S. has not yet given the Poles permission to localize the production of ammunition for HIMARS.
As reported by South Korean Hawnha Aerospace, the relevant preliminary work has begun at the site in Gorzów Wielkopolski. This involves preparing the site and carrying out earthworks.

It is noted that the construction itself will last several months. The enterprise will belong to the Polish-Korean consortium Hanwha WB Advanced System and will be engaged in the production of CGR-080 rockets.
From Defense Express we note that this is a big step for both countries. In particular, Poland will get the opportunity to independently produce ammunition. Also important for the Poles is the fact that, thanks to new contracts and working competencies, the local industry will receive an impetus for development.

As a result, South Korea will receive the first European production of its rockets, which can be used to further promote K239 in the region. At the moment, in addition to Poland, two more European countries have chosen the K239 Chunmoo – Norway and Estonia. This also gives Korean manufacturers an advantage in promoting their own MLRS on the market over the American HIMARS system, the production of ammunition for which the United States refuses to localize in Poland.
The contract for the deployment of ammunition production for HOMAR-K in Poland was signed in December 2025. That is, it took only six months to proceed directly to the construction of the plant. According to the published schedule, ammunition supplies will begin in 2030. The first order will be received by 2033.

Let us recall that the CGR-080 rockets have a caliber of 239 mm, can be equipped with both a conventional high-explosive fragmentation warhead as well as a cluster warhead, and provide a range of 80 km to hit targets.
This generally corresponds to the tactical and technical characteristics of the
American GMLRS rockets.
