The Ukrainian armored equipment manufacturer "UKR ARMO TECH" has developed and introduced the UAT-SPIDER armored backhoe loader. It has already passed the necessary tests, has been codified by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, is ready for mass production and delivery to the Armed Forces of of Ukraine.
According to the company, the new engineering machine is capable of performing a number of engineering and logistical tasks to support the units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. These include the arrangement of positions and command posts, as well as the construction and restoration of military highways.

At the same time, the backhoe loader by "UKR ARMO TECH" has various modifications for different tasks and, if necessary, can be equipped with enlarged front wheels. It is noted that the UAT-SPIDER is equipped with a reinforced chassis.
The cab of the backhoe machine is armored according to STANAG 4569 Level 1, i.e. it protects against conventional bullets of caliber 7.62x51-mm and 5.56x45-mm, as well as against the explosion of grenades, submunitions and anti-personnel mines. Additionally, the main components and assemblies of the machine have been reinforced, such as the engine, which is covered by a grille made of armored material.
The UAT-SPIDER armored backhoe loader has a rated lifting capacity of 3.2 tons and a maximum speed of 38 km/h. According to the manufacturer, this machine has good mobility and can work effectively in confined spaces.
Defense Express notes that armored vehicles, armored personnel carriers, UGVs as well as drones generally attract more attention from both the audience and manufacturers. At the same time, the Defense Forces of Ukraine being in conditions of russia-Ukraine war need engineering equipment that can facilitate the performance of the tasks assigned to servicemen.
It should be noted that equipment used in regions near the front or in places where unexploded explosive devices and ammunition remain may be exposed to significant risks of damage. In view of this, enhanced protection and armor help both protect the crew and increase the survivability of the vehicle/machine as a whole.
