Britain confirmed doubling its Sky Sabre surface-to-air missile system arsenal. Over £350 million, or €411.8 million, was allocated for this in Defense Investment Plan (DIP) for coming years. At the same time, delivery timelines are quite fast.
As UK Defence Journal writes, according to British Defence Ministry response to parliamentary inquiry, additional command posts will arrive by end of 2026 and be commissioned in early 2027. Also in 2027 additional Land Ceptor launchers and support vehicles from system composition will arrive. Defense department adds they are working on further Sky Sabre capability expansion, but details are not provided as negotiations are still ongoing.

Defense Express notes this involves strengthening Britain's ground layered air defense. Additional Sky Sabre batteries will increase quantity of simultaneously covered areas and supplement already available naval air defense systems and fighter aviation for countering various aerial threats, including cruise missiles like Kh-101 and Kalibr.
Sky Sabre battery is based on three Land Ceptor launchers using CAMM surface-to-air missiles with range up to 25 km and own active radar seeker. CAMM-ER can also be used, whose range increased to 40 km. This entire family is already in naval service.
Besides this, system composition includes Giraffe Agile Multibeam radars from Swedish Saab, providing target detection and tracking at ranges up to 120 km. Command post is called SAMOC and developed by Israeli Rafael.
Sky Sabre enters British Royal Artillery service replacing Rapier SAM systems. Already 7 Land Ceptor launchers were delivered, while another 6 were ordered in 2025, which precisely comprises mentioned doubling.
Recall CAMM family missiles are also used in Polish Narev air defense system. Also recently information appeared in public access about potential CAMM-ER production localization in Ukraine.
