The US explained the actions of the russian federation in the Kherson region and the state of the Kremlin's preparations for the use of nuclear weapons

Another briefing for the media was held in the Pentagon, where the representative of the US Ministry of Defense answered in detail several main questions related to the actions of the russian army and the attempts of the russia’s army leaders to stir up the "dirty bomb" issue.

In particular, it became known how the actions of russians in Kherson Oblast are evaluated in the USA. Defense Express notes that the Pentagon does not comment very often on the course of hostilities and very rarely on information from intelligence.

"In the Kherson region of southeast Ukraine, Ukrainian forces continue to make deliberate and calibrated operations in support of their counteroffensive along three main axes. We assess that Russian forces are largely digging in to strengthen their defensive lines in this sector," as was announced during the briefing.

Also, to the question regarding the alleged withdrawal of the main forces of the russian army from Kherson Oblast, the Pentagon answered that the movement of forces that had been observed previously is a basically redeployment. Moreover, the enemy is strengthening the defense, creating new positions and fortified areas. Their main goal is defense, not the withdrawal.

Thus, massive statements by russia’s officias regarding "difficult decisions" with Kherson are just an unsuccessful attempt to create the illusion of withdrawal of troops and disguise real plans.

The other most important block of questions concerned the "dirty bomb", which russia’s Defense Minister Shoigu personally threatened NATO defense ministers with.

Firstly, the Pentagon emphasized a single position: Ukraine is not creating a "dirty bomb". Secondly, despite the risk that the Kremlin is preparing to use nuclear weapons with such accusations, the US Department of Defense reported that there are no indications in American intelligence that Moscow has decided to use weapons of mass destruction, not only nuclear, but also chemical or biological.
