American RTX received from U.S. Navy record $22.9 billion contract for increasing Tomahawk cruise missile production volumes. It is noted implementation will take 7 years.
This involves achieving output of over 1,000 Tomahawks annually, agreed within framework agreement with Pentagon concluded in February 2026. Company says for rapid implementation they will cooperate with hundreds of small and medium suppliers across country.

RTX adds they are already working on scaling missile supply capabilities. According to company announcement, first half of 2026 they transferred three times more Tomahawks to customers than analogous period of 2025.
Defense Express notes such multi-year and multi-billion contracts can be called guarantee of further production volume increase for this weaponry. Because financing availability and timeframes create corresponding initiative for manufacturer.
Currently in U.S. many discussions ongoing about scaling industry capabilities for missile and ammunition supply, but many of them for now remain agreements and arrangements. Although corresponding processes have already started working, for full implementation they need to be backed with contracts.
Tomahawk cruise missiles with 1,600 km range form basis of U.S. Navy ship long-range arsenal. However for years orders for them remained quite limited, which in turn led to smaller production volumes.
As result, during iran war, use of over 1,000 such missiles led to significant decrease of American stocks of similar weaponry, whose restoration will take years. Important to remember here that current contract for nearly €23 billion provides for scaling output volumes over 7 years, meaning results require waiting.
Besides U.S., Tomahawk serves in Britain, Netherlands and Japan, which recently fired it for first time. Also Germany should receive approval for potential procurement, which also even raised production localization question.
