The High-Precision Systems holding of the russia’s Rostec state corporation has announced the transfer of a new batch of Pantsir family air defense systems to the russia’s armed forces. According to russian media, they can allegedly use not only standard anti-aircraft missiles, but also short-range missiles and even hypersonic anti-aircraft missiles.
It is noted that two modifications were delivered to the russian troops: the Pantsir-S self-propelled anti-aircraft missile anti-aircraft artillery systems as well as the stationary SAM Pantsir-SMD SAM systems. The latter is also different in that it does not have 30-mm guns.

The illustration you can see above was also published showing the Pantsir-SMD SAM system, which is located on top of a concrete structure in the form of a tower, which is a fairly typical location of these SAM system s in the moscow air defense system. Previously, russians showcased Pantsir-S1M mounted on a 35-meter tower to protect moscow from Ukrainian drones.
Judging by the illustration that was published in the russian media, it can be assumed that in the case of "the Pantsir-S self-propelled anti-aircraft missile anti-aircraft artillery systems" supplied to the russian armed forces, it may be the Pantsir-S1M system.
From this, we can conclude that the russians continue the production of their Pantsir family of air defense systems, which will be further deployed to combat the means of destruction that are being used by the Defense Forces of Ukraine to strike at objects on russia’s territory.
Let us recall that the deployment of stationary and self-propelled air defense systems on the roofs of various government and civilian buildings has already been observed. In addition, self-propelled surface-to-air missile and anti-aircraft artillery systems are actively used in Russia, for which firing positions are equipped to counter Ukrainian drones.
As for the aforementioned hypersonic anti-aircraft missiles, most likely they are 57E6M-E two-stage solid fuel anti-aircraft missiles, for which a speed of about 1700 m/s (Mach 5), a range of up to 40 km and the "Hit-to-kill" principle of operation are claimed. russian propaganda also attributes to these missiles the ability to intercept ballistic missiles.
Let us recall that the standard 57E6-E anti-aircraft missile has a maximum speed of 1300 m/s and is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 20 km. In the case of the short-range missiles mentioned above, TKB-1055 missiles can be used, which are capable of intercepting air targets at a distance of up to 7 km.
Anti-aircraft missiles on Pantsir systems can be placed both in a homogeneous and in a mixed composition - when different types of missiles are combined. As an example, a configuration of 4 57E6 and 8 TKB-1055 missiles can be used, which allows hitting air targets at different distances.
Let us recall that after heavy damage to Moscow oil refinery, russia flooded the surrounding area with Pantsir air defense systems.
As Defense Express reported, to stop more Ukrainian drones, russia even wants to mount Pantsir systems on autonomous trucks. But all this does not seem very effective, since the Defense Forces of Ukrainу are destroying not only facilities on russia’s territory, but also aircraft and air defense systems that protect them.
